The new season begins

The 2011-12 season began well on Saturday with wins for the men’s 1, 2, 3 teams and the Ladies 1. Men’s 4 drew and Ladies 2 lost. Ladies 3 kick off their season this Saturday, as do the mixed team on Sunday.

TRAINING

Please ignore what the training page says coz it’s wrong. Our training programme for the summer looks like this:

Indoor – Weds 13th July – 17th August (6 consecutive sessions) 7.30-9pm at Whitgift School Sportshall. see http://www.whitgift.co.uk/facilities/sportcentre.html for directions etc.

Outdoor – Weds 24th August (6 sessions before start of season) 7.30-9pm at Whitgift School Astro. Same location but outdoors, obviously.

Open/Club Day – Saturday 20th August 12 -3pm at Whigift School Astro and then down to clubhouse for BBQ and refreshments. This is aimed at getting all our new players, or anyone who wants to join, to meet the whole club and have a fun day of hockey.

Fitness – starting Sunday 3rd July 11am at the Old Whitgiftian Clubhouse and each Sunday after that up til start of season. See http://www.owa.org/contact for the location.

GOLF!

Hi all.

This summer we’re holding a club golf event. It’s on Sunday 7th August, starting at 2.30pm at Croham Hurst golf club (just up the road from the OWA clubhouse). First tee off is 3pm. Places are limited so if you want to play please book your place with me as soon as possible. first come first served.

We should all be back in by 8pm when there will be sandwiches and prizes in the golf club, followed no doubt by drinking in the OWA clubhouse!

Indoor Hockey

Indoor Hockey was a huge success last night. Please come and join in next Wednesday, 7.30pm, Whitgift School sports hall. All are welcome!

It’s official. We are now CROYDON and OLD WHITGIFTIAN hockey club

The club voted unanimously at the AGM in favour of the merger, so we now known as CROYDON and OLD WHITGIFTIAN hockey club. this website will be updated shortly.

Mens summer league is going well, with a 3-1 victory over PW’s last Thursday. We have 2 games this Monday, 6th June, at 8pm and 9pm. If you want to play please contact me or Hoops.

Ladies, if you send me your summer results I’ll post them on here. Thanks.

Finally, the Milligans are over from South Africa and will be in the OWA clubhouse this afternoon, Sunday 5th June, from around 2pm. Please come and join us!!

AGM

AGM on Monday evening (23 May) at the OWA clubhouse. It is essential that all members attend. Our new kit supplier will be there so come early and order your new shirt for next season.

Summer hockey off to a good start…

ladies beat NPL 6-1 last Thursday and the mixed beat Addiscombe 5-4 last night… lovely weather and good results

We’ve got mens, ladies and mixed fixtures taking place on a variety of nights over the summer, hopefully enough for everyone who wants to get involved.
